First two pages of Boy Division. Depressing post-apocalyptic tales about children are a nice change of pace from zombie detective stories, let me tell you.
Bitter Liquid goes on sale tomorrow at a big cartel site I’ve yet to set up. Every copy comes with at least a classy ink sketch, but I’ll probably end up including random comic-ish stuff in some orders. Maybe some lovely Rob Liefeld comics or something.

woah, hey! copies came.
It turned out fairly decent for a first book; there’s a bunch of scanning errors and messing up the pacing with page turns but whatever. Still pretty cool.
I haven’t read the thing in it’s entirety. It’s pretty hard to look at after hundreds of hours of work on the thing. They’ll go on sale on monday.

A preview of something I’ll post in december. I’m working on shorter comics until christmas break or so, the largest one being a twenty page post apocalyptic Stand By Me-ish story called “Boy Division”. It’ll run in Broken Nose.
I just sent Bitter Liquid off to print, should be getting copies within a week or two. I’ll link to where you can purchase a copy as soon as they get here. Feels good to have it done with, finally.

SO. I said I was going to be doing this…awhile ago and then I got distracted with scripting and inking and various other comic things. However, I need money to fund webhosting and supplies for the San Hannibal project and this is the best way to do it.
For a 15 dollar preorder (shipping included) you will get a small trade paperback containing Acrobat issues 29 and 30 complete with bonus pinups, a free quick sketch from the artist (me), and the short Christmas story illustrated by Jon Cairns of Alpha Flag.com. This comes out to about 60 pages, which I think is a decent deal for an indie comic. Let me know if you want anything specific for your sketch and I’ll try to include it with your copy.
Payment can go to email@example.com, and I’ll need your address if paypal doesn’t already have it. Ka-Blam takes a long time to print, so it’ll probably be a bit…but you will get it.
The comic in question can be viewed up in here: http://www.crankyoctopus.com/acrobat
Reblog and help me out if you can.
I don’t normally reblog anything, but JD is doing some really great work, and this needs some more attention. Help him out (and do yourself a favor) by ordering his book.

Walter White, from photo reference. Breaking Bad is probably one of the best shows I’ve ever seen, right up there with Oz.
Also, everything that could have gone wrong technically with Bitter Liquid has. My hard drive was wiped out by some Akira volume three level virus, so I’ve been playing musical chairs with computers to get the production done. Scanned all 108 pages today, and I’m going to go change the contrast levels and letter the thing before I go to sleep.
You don’t know pain until you’ve had to scan 108 pages in one sitting.

Finished the book, mere moments ago. I was planning on posting a part of the last page, but, of course, the computer I use to scan is infected with a virus. So here’s a photo taken with an ipad, of the fat stack of pages I’ve accumulated over the last ten months.
Feels weird to finally have the hardest part of the book done. I don’t think my brain has processed it yet..I go from random moments of “Holy shit, this book is done” to feeling like I just completed another page of the book, with many more to come. I don’t know what I’m getting at. ANYWAYS.
Bitter Liquid is the first in a series of five or six books, the majority of which I’ll be doing in high school. It’s a training ground to get to a professional level of comic bookery, while creating a love letter to all my favorite movies, bands, and art. For the next week I’ll be doing spot illustrations for the cover and such, along with preparing all the files for print. Physical copies should be available to purchase by the end of october.
I figure I should probably mention what’s up next after Bitter Liquid. Through October and November, I’ll be making the majority of the comics that’ll end up in Broken Nose, a magazine sized anthology of shorter comics, similar to the way Michael Deforge does Lose. In December, I’ll be starting my second book in the series, Mother Wolf. I’ve already made a list of everything I hate about the first book..and I think it’ll be leaps and bounds better than this one.
I hope you’ll all buy a copy, enjoy it, and watch me grow as an artist.
Thank you and goodnight.

Tonight’s warm up. Frankenstein from the reboot, and Klarion the witch boy.
I’ve never read any comic with Klarion the Witch boy in it. I just like that there’s a character called Klarion the witch boy. Nice design, too.

Snippet! The book’ll be done soon. Within two to three weeks, at my current pace.
Habibi comes out in two days! So excited. Blankets and Carnet de Voyage are some of my favorite books.

One last full page. I figure I’ll just post little snippets of the fifteen or so pages that’ll follow after this.
Picked up the new Justice League book, I figured it’s kinda important. The Jim Lee art was pretty nice, I always like seeing him work on a book. I used to be really into Jim Lee and Rob Liefeld (I know, I know) when I was ten or eleven. It’s kind of funny, considering all my artistic heroes now are the exact opposite of those two in terms of line work.
